Dam Safety Project, Indonesia

In Indonesia there are about 200 dams under the Ministry of Settlement and Regional Infrastructure. By order of this ministry and financed by the World Bank, Colenco Power Engineering Ltd. has led a Dam Safety Project since 1995, which trains personnel involved in the monitoring of dams. Within the scope of this training, the software DAMOSY has been introduced this past summer. DAMOSY was developed by Colenco and is a program for storage, processing and graphic output of data collected from dam instrumentation, which provides readings of the reservoir water level, precipitation, deformation of the dam, seepage and piezometric pressures.

So far three training sessions have been held in Jakarta and in the provinces of West Java and Central Java. Participants include 29 dam engineers and computer operators from central and provincial authorities as well as dam operators. As a result of thorough evaluation of the recent sessions, additional DAMOSY training is scheduled for other provinces.
